I
believe in Livonia. I have great pride in the outstanding accomplishments that have
been made, and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
I
am a lifetime resident of Livonia, growing up near Plymouth Road & Middlebelt
and then moving to the Five Mile and Levan area. I attended Livonia Public Schools
and graduated from Stevenson High School in 1973. My
wife, Linda, and I bought our first home in Livonia and are raising our four children
Amy, Katie, Trevor and Tyler in this great City. Amy is continuing that tradition
and owns a home in Clements Circle - Plymouth Road/Middlebelt area.
I
received my Undergraduate and law degrees in Michigan. I am active in a number of
professional organizations and have served as Past President of the Wayne County Bar
Association.
For
the past nineteen years I have practiced law in Wayne County, first as a Special Assistant
Prosecutor and then in private practice. I
am currently acting as a Public Administrator for Wayne County and have my law offices
in Livonia.
I
have long been involved in Community Service in Livonia. I
have been the Resident Agent for the Friends of Greenmead for the past 13 years, served
on the Board of Directors for the Livonia YMCA for 7 years, was a past President and
member of the Schoolcraft College Board of Governors for 8 years and also sat on the
Livonia Adult Education Committee for 5 years.
My
service to the City has been ongoing and rewarding. I spent 17 informative and educational
years on the Livonia Planning Commission, the last nine years as their Chairperson. I
am currently the Chairman of the City Council Capital Improvement Committee, on the
Legislative Committee and the Water, Sewer and Waste Committee. I
also serve as the Council Representative to the City Tree Committee.
During
the past year I have gained additional knowledge about the operation of Livonia city
government. Having years of experience on the City Planning Commission I am extremely
familiar with the planning and development of Livonia. I
have recently introduced legislation to increase setbacks between commercial centers
and residential areas.
I
believe that Livonia has made wise decisions and has taken the proper steps to live
within their budget. The many cost savings
that have been implemented need to continue even as the economy rebounds.
As
we experience reduced revenues and increased costs we face difficult decisions. I
look forward to working with our citizens to maintain Livonia’s high quality of life
while living within our budgetary limits.
I believe Livonia’s future is excellent.
With positive leadership Livonia will continue to lead the country as one of the best
places to live and raise children.
